Xiaomi launched its budget smartphone Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 earlier this year. The device, which has a Snapdragon 650 SoC, was launched with MIUI 7 based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The device later got MIUI 8 update. However, the Android version remained the same.
But now, Xiaomi has finally started rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow version with MIUI 8.1.1.0.MHOMIDI OTA update as nightly build, which Xiaomi calls as beta stable release before the final update. The latest update has optimizations and fixes some bugs. It is about 1.3GB in size and is only available for select users. But it will be available for all the users soon after the testing has been completed. Users who want to try it out as soon as possible can download the OTA zip file and try it at their own risk.
Xiaomi's Redmi Note 3 has been immensely successful in India, selling more then 2.3 million units of the smartphone.
Xiaomi is currently soaring high with the success of its bezel-less smartphone - Mi Mix, which was recently launched at an event held in China.
The device features a 6.4-inch display and is powered with a quad-core SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and has a 4,400mAh battery.
