Xiaomi Redmi 5A has been launched in India. The company has been teasing the smartphone as 'Desh ka smartphone' since past few weeks. The Chinese smartphone brand launched Redmi 5A in in its home country (China) last month. The Redmi 5A variant launched in India has largely same specs as the one launched in China, however, the company has introduced some India-centric customisations.
Xiaomi Redmi 5A price and availability
Xiaomi Redmi 5A comes in two variants based on RAM and storage capacities. The 2GB RAM + 16GB storage model costs Rs 5,999, while the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage version is priced at Rs 6,999. You can get the handset starting December 7 via Flipkart, and the company's official websites -- Mi.com and Mi Home. Other Mi partners will also be selling the device in future. Xiaomi is also giving Rs 1,000 off on the 2GB RAM variant. The discount is a limited-period offer.
Xiaomi Redmi 5A India customisations
The company has made some India-based customisations in the Redmi 5A. The smartphone comes with a 2+1 slot, meaning that you will be able to work with two SIM cards and a microSD card simultaneously. Another customisation comes in the form of 'Dual Graphite Sheet' coating at the back that keeps the temperature of the handset cooler by up to 1 degree more. The new charger that comes with the smartphone can support up to 380 volts.
While launching the Xiaomi Redmi 5A, Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi vice president added that all units sold here will be made in India.
Xiaomi Redmi 5A specifications
The USP of the Xiaomi Redmi 5A is its 8-day long battery life. The handset is backed by a 3000mAh battery, which is lower than its predecessor, the Redmi 4A. Running Android-based MIUI 9 out of the box, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A sports a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) display and is powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, clubbed with 2GB/3GB RAM and Adreno 308.
The dual-SIM smartphone has a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture along with a 5MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. Redmi 5A also supports all the basic wireless communication such as 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi and micro-USB. It comes with 16GB/32GB inbuilt storage.
Weighing 137 grams, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A can support microSD card up to 128GB. It is available in three colour variants -- Platinum Silver Gray, Champagne Gold and Cherry Powder. The smartphone measures 140.4x70.1x8.3mm and has a fingerprint sensor on board.
